Then the story goes to work—or the bedroom—and all good judgment leaves the building.
Those scenes are explicit, erotic, and played with a straight face even when everything happening around the couple is gloriously ridiculous. Afterward, the book returns to the tenderness: breakfast, awkward conversations, proposals, children, and the daily work of loving someone on purpose.
