What’s Oliver Ahn?
Say it out loud. That is the joke, and it has been the joke from the beginning.
The real answer is less funny, and we would rather tell it properly.

Two people, several states apart
Oliver Ahn is not a person. Oliver Ahn is two single parents who became close friends first, back when we lived near enough to be a normal part of each other’s week. Then life moved us several states apart.
The friendship did not appear to notice. It just carried on over the phone, which is where most of it has happened ever since.
We were there for each other through the parts nobody posts about. A marriage that went bad and took its time doing it. The stretch afterwards where you are working out how to be a whole parent on your own. The ordinary weeknight panic over a bill that arrived early.
Neither of us could fix any of that for the other. What we could do was pick up the phone. So we picked up the phone.
Most of what we talked about was unglamorous
What to do about a kid who will not sleep. How to stretch a grocery run to Thursday. Which school forms actually matter. And, constantly, ways to bring in a little extra money that did not require hours neither of us had.
That last one is where the coloring books came from.
We had a couple of hours after bedtime, some AI tools, and no illusions about it being art. Karens in the wild. Florida in the news. The particular horror of office life. It was a side hustle with crayons, and it helped, and we were glad of it.
Then the stories started
Somewhere along the way the calls stopped being only about logistics.
When you are both exhausted and it is late and you have run out of practical things to say, you start telling each other ridiculous things to see who breaks first. A woman eats the bad romaine and declares war on Big Lettuce. An HOA president turns out to be a vampire, and technically within his rights under the bylaws. A man wins a fishing trip he never entered and accidentally stops a war.
That was the medicine. Honestly, it still is.
Eventually it seemed worth finding out whether anybody else needed the same thing.
So we started Oliver Ahn Books

The name is both of ours, stitched together. Half from one of us, half from the other, which felt about right for something neither of us could have made alone.
It was only afterwards that we noticed it sounds like a question you would ask about somebody behaving strangely. That settled it. If you have to ask what Oliver Ahn is, you are already the right kind of reader.
What we make is dark comedy, pulp satire and trailer-park chaos, published quickly and priced so nobody has to think very hard about it. The titles tell you exactly what you are getting, which we consider a courtesy. If a cover makes you laugh in a slightly guilty way, that book is for you. If it makes you close the tab, no hard feelings at all.
We are not pretending this is literature. We are two friends who got each other through some genuinely rough years by being funny at each other, and this is what came of it.
What you should know before you start
Every book is a standalone. Most finish in an evening. Most are on Kindle Unlimited. Nobody in them learns a valuable lesson about community, and the endings are happier than they have any right to be.
They are also for adults. Not adults in the mild-language sense. Adults in the sense that if your mother reads over your shoulder on a plane, you are going to have a conversation about it. We would rather tell you now than hear about it in a review.
Where to start
